                              1961 CUMBERLAND PROGRAM
 Bob Buchers RSK Porsche finished 3rd overall and easily won FM.  A proud day for BARC and Jake’s Stable.
 Jake on the grid.  #10 Bocar of Henderson just ahead and farther out the LeMans Birdcage Maserati of Fred Gamble.  To the left is the #131 EM Porsche of Schwartz who Bob beat.
 Our intrepid P-51 pilot looks over for a sign from Spankey telling him what position and how many laps to go.
 Bob Holbert’s RS-61 won the feature after Roger Penke’s birdcage dropped out.
 Two of the Bucher’s friends took the trip to western Maryland to see Jake’s new toy race.  On the left is George Henton who lived a few blocks from Bucher and was his barber.
 Charley Kurtz is scratching his head and wondering how he can keep ahead of Wyllie’s Lola.
 Charley has changed his focus to wife Sandra who is sitting with Spankey Smith.  Were they planning dinner?
 Pit man Dave Nicholas signals to Charley he’s on the podium and to  keep it steady.
 Sherm Decker, wearing his Sebring straw hat.  Sherm did another amazing job with the twincam coming in 3rd behind Mark Donohue and Jay Signore in Couriers.  Bob Poupards twincam would come 8th.
 Charlie brings the Lola back after practice.
 The Lola MkI was a world beater immediately.  Light, simple and great looking.  Charley used it to his advantage to win the 1961 SCCA national championship.
 Charley leads the Lola MkI of Doc Wyllie.  Wyllie evetually got past Charley and they finished 1-2.
 Ben Fowke’s MGA won FP.  Our BARCBOYs had forsaken the pushrod for the twincam but Fowke proved the A could still win.
 Claude Cardwell's Porsche Super finished 13th in DP.  We didn’t know Cardwell or his car, but it’s still a nice photo.
 Chuck Stoddards very fast Alfa Veloce was 3rd in DP after a race long battle with Herm Melotti.
 In this photo Stoddard passes Herm Melotti's  Alfa.  They battled all race with Melotti finishing 4th
 From the spectator hill overlooking the finish line.  Cumberland always drew great crowds for the event that was sponsored by the local Lion’s Club.
